ABOUT ART
Art & Photography support the creative expression of all students within our community, bringing inspiration and imagination to every aspect of the school. From the moment students walk through the doors, they step into a world where self-expression flourishes and every artistic voice is celebrated. The Art Department is a dynamic space, alive with a diverse range of artistic projects, workshops, and exhibitions that inspire and engage all students. With a passionate team of skilled artist educators, the department fosters an environment of exploration and innovation, encouraging each student to discover and develop their artistic potential and a lifelong appreciation for creativity.

While encouraging critical thinking and creative problem solving skills we encourage positive learning habits in developing imaginative, inquisitive, disciplined, persistent and collaborative characters.

With a wide range of facilities including exhibition spaces, dark rooms, clay/kiln room and photographic and art studios students are exposed to a broad range of materials, techniques and processes in both 2d and 3d. Students are encouraged to think through their making in mediums such as drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, sculpture, photography: analogue and digital, exploring visual literacy to communicate and express themselves, their ideas and reflect on our time and place.

ABOUT TEXTILES
Textile Design is a creative and practical subject that encourages students to develop an understanding of materials, sustainability, and design principles while mastering key textile techniques. Our KS3 curriculum is designed to inspire and challenge students, equipping them with the knowledge and practical skills to design and create textile products with purpose and originality.
At Morpeth, students are encouraged to explore the world of textiles through hands-on experimentation with materials, processes, and decorative techniques. They develop an awareness of how textiles are designed and manufactured, considering both aesthetic and functional qualities. Through research and practical tasks, students also engage with cultural and environmental themes, developing a critical understanding of textiles in the modern world.

The club is a great opportunity to work on personal projects, share ideas, and learn from others while having fun with textiles.
